Since Thunderbird support all organizing and email related features, I use it as all-in-one email client, plus it’s open-source and now have mobile clients.

Actual shortcuts and main features available in Thunderbird documentation 2. Modifier keys are the Ctrl-key on Windows and Linux, and the Cmd-key on MacOS devices. This guide uses Ctrl, and Mac users need to replace it with Cmd whenever it is used to make the shortcut work on their devices.

The most useful shortcuts

  • Get new messages: F5/S-F5
  • Send message: C-CR/C-S-CR
  • Create a new message: C-n
  • Forward a message: C-l
  • Reply to message: C-r
  • Add tags to messages: [0..5]
  • Remove tags: 0
  • Mark as Junk: j/s-j
  • Go to next/previous unread message: n/p
  • Display the message source: C-u
  • Contacts tab: C-2
  • New contact: C-n
  • Calendar tab: C-3
  • Tasks tab: C-4
  • Create new event: C-i
  • Create new task: C-d
